Protect the Business. Protect the Deal. Resolve the Dispute.
The Skeen Firm represents Beaver County businesses, entrepreneurs, partners, LLC members and shareholders in serious commercial disputes involving contracts, money, ownership, transactions and business relationships. We focus on the law, the leverage and the economics behind the dispute.
A Business Lawsuit Is a Business Decision
A serious commercial dispute creates more than a legal problem. It can affect cash flow, ownership, customer relationships, contracts, management attention and the value of the company itself.
The Skeen Firm represents Beaver County businesses and owners with those realities in mind. We evaluate the contract, evidence, available claims and defenses, but we also look at damages, collectability, litigation cost, business disruption and the result the client actually needs.
Sometimes the right answer is an aggressive lawsuit. Sometimes it is a demand, mediation, negotiated resolution, buyout or structured exit from a deteriorating business relationship. The legal strategy should serve the business objective.
Preserve the records, understand the agreement and identify the outcome you actually need before the other side controls the next move.
Beaver County Business & Commercial Litigation
Business disputes often arise from contracts, ownership relationships, transactions, unpaid obligations and alleged misconduct. Matters we evaluate include:
Breach of Contract
Claims involving payment, performance, termination, purchase agreements, service contracts, warranties, guarantees and other commercial obligations.
LLC & Partnership Disputes
Conflicts involving management, ownership, distributions, voting, records, business control and breakdowns between co-owners.
Shareholder Litigation
Disputes involving closely held companies, minority shareholder rights, corporate records, distributions, management and control.
Fiduciary Duty Claims
Claims involving self-dealing, conflicts of interest, misuse of business assets and diversion of company opportunities.
Business Fraud
Claims involving misrepresentations, concealed information, fraudulent transactions and other misconduct causing financial loss.
Business Acquisition Disputes
Post-closing claims involving seller representations, hidden liabilities, earn-outs, purchase price adjustments, restrictive covenants and purchase agreements.
Unpaid Commercial Obligations
Significant unpaid invoices, receivables and contractual balances where ordinary business collection efforts have stopped working.
Vendor & Contractor Disputes
Commercial disputes involving scope, payment, performance, delivery, defective work or failed business expectations.
Complex Commercial Claims
High-value or multi-party disputes involving overlapping contract, ownership, fraud and financial issues.
Commercial Disputes Across Beaver County and Western Pennsylvania
Beaver County businesses operate in a regional economy where contracts, customers, vendors, ownership interests and transactions often cross county and state lines. A dispute involving a Beaver County company may quickly become a broader western Pennsylvania or regional litigation matter.
Closely Held Businesses
Ownership disputes can become especially disruptive when the same individuals are owners, employees, managers and decision-makers.
Commercial Contracts
Supply, service, purchase, construction and vendor relationships can create substantial losses when payment or performance breaks down.
Regional Business Relationships
Beaver County disputes frequently involve counterparties elsewhere in Allegheny, Butler or Washington Counties and sometimes in West Virginia or Ohio.
A Different Fee Model for Qualifying Business Claims
Traditional hourly commercial litigation can create significant uncertainty. For qualifying plaintiff-side disputes, The Skeen Firm offers a hybrid success-fee structure designed to make early-stage costs more predictable while tying a substantial portion of the overall fee to the amount recovered.
How the Success-Fee Model Works
- Initial flat fee generally between $5,000 and $15,000.
- Fixed $10,000 discovery fee if the matter reaches formal discovery.
- No separate standalone trial fee under the qualifying success-fee structure.
- A decreasing tiered success fee applies to amounts recovered.
- Qualifying flat fees are credited against the calculated success fee.
Success-fee arrangements are available only for qualifying matters and are governed by the applicable written engagement agreement. Case costs and expenses may be separate. Past results do not guarantee future outcomes.
What to Do When a Business Dispute Starts Escalating
The decisions made before a complaint is filed can affect the evidence, leverage and eventual cost of the case. A deliberate early response can prevent avoidable mistakes.
Preserve the Records
Preserve contracts, emails, text messages, invoices, accounting records, corporate documents and other potentially relevant evidence.
Build the Timeline
Identify what was promised, what occurred, when performance changed and how the dispute developed.
Review the Agreement
Look closely at notice requirements, cure provisions, venue clauses, dispute procedures, indemnification terms and deadlines.
Define the Business Objective
Decide whether the business needs money, performance, information, control, an injunction, an exit or a negotiated resolution.
Part of a Broader Pennsylvania Commercial Litigation Practice
Beaver County disputes often involve counterparties, contracts and transactions outside the county. The Skeen Firm represents Pennsylvania businesses in qualifying commercial litigation throughout the Commonwealth and across its broader Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio practice.
